1、 Comparison of mainstream printing technologies
(1)Screen printing: Classic choice, color king
Screen printing, which transfers ink through a screen, has become the preferred method for mass production due to its full color and strong coverage. Its layered color matching technology can present a three-dimensional design, especially suitable for simple logos or large area color blocks.
(2)Heat transfer printing: a "non-destructive" solution for fine patterns
Heat transfer printing uses high temperature to "paste" the pattern on the transfer film onto the surface of the package, which can accurately reproduce complex designs (such as photo level patterns or tiny text) without the need for plate making, suitable for small and medium-sized orders.
(3)Digital printing: the "zero threshold" innovation of on-demand production
Digital printing directly outputs electronic design files to the surface of the package, achieving "printless printing" and greatly shortening the sampling cycle, reducing the cost of small batches. Its advantage lies in supporting personalized customization (such as user uploading patterns) and quickly responding to market trends.
2、 Material adaptability:
(1)PVC:
PVC material is soft and susceptible to solvent corrosion, so it is necessary to use flexible special ink (such as polyurethane based ink) to avoid hardening or cracking. When printing transparent PVC, double-sided printing or sandwich technology should be used to prevent pattern wear.
(2)Canvas:
Canvas fibers are rough and easy to absorb ink, but dark canvas needs to be coated with white paint first to enhance color brightness. Heat transfer printing can easily cause blurry patterns due to uneven canvas thickness. It is recommended to use high mesh wire mesh (such as 300 mesh or more) with slow drying ink, or use direct spray digital technology to enhance ink adhesion through pre-treatment solution.
(3)Nylon:
Nylon has a smooth and stretch resistant surface, and printing is prone to peeling off. Elastic transfer film or high elasticity ink screen printing should be selected for heat transfer printing, and "breathing space" should be reserved at the edge of the pattern to prevent cracking. Digital printing requires the use of stretch resistant coatings to ensure that the pattern does not deform with the shape of the package
3、 Process selection logic: deducing solutions from requirements
In actual production, process selection needs to comprehensively consider design complexity, material characteristics, order size, and cost budget. For example, if a PVC transparent crossbody bag needs to be printed with a gradient starry sky pattern, digital printing and partial UV varnish can be used to enhance the three-dimensional effect.
Bag printing is not only a stack of technology, but also a profound understanding of materials, design, and market demand. From traditional silk screen to intelligent digital, from flat printing to three-dimensional carving, the evolution of craftsmanship is constantly expanding the boundaries of fashion expression. not yet
